A single-coil guitar heard as a P-90: a wider, stronger pickup, resonating lower and with more level. Character picks the kind, Soapbar, Dog Ear or Hot, the hottest being the loudest and the darkest. Hum takes the mains hum off, 50 Hz or 60 Hz with their harmonics, without touching a note; a note held steady exactly on a harmonic, such as 100 Hz, is taken for hum. A P-90 is a single coil, so unlike a humbucker it does not cancel hum itself.
